Digbeth Waterside is located in Fazeley Street, Birmingham and comprises of 1.46 hectares of brownfield land.

Elgar Consultants have designed the introduction of 40 residential houses with off street parking as well as over 20 student accommodation rooms within the ‘Canal House’ and the surrounding listed buildings. There is also the construction of a 4-storey office block with an internal BMS system and 2 floors of surrounding glass windows. There will also be the development of an adjoining building to the ‘Banana Warehouse’ while the ‘Banana Warehouse’ itself is refurbished to a more structurally sound building.
Our main design feature on all of our buildings is the mixed palette of brick colours instead of stark single colour. This indicates our site will still be in tune with the surrounding buildings.
History
The site is located within the Warwick Bar Conservation Area in Digbeth. Once a key industrial area of Birmingham during the industrial boom of the last two centuries, it is now considered the ‘Bohemian District’ of Birmingham and was named by the Sunday Times as the ‘coolest neighborhood in Britain’. With this in mind, the design of the development has factored in building use catered to the arts and creativity at the same time as preserving the rich history of its industrial roots.
